The Vestibulator
The vestibular system is one of the senses that provides the brain with the necessary information for movement. It also plays a role in attention levels and alertness.
Located as part of the inner ear, the vestibular system contains fluid-filled chambers with hair-like structures. When the head moves, the fluid shifts, causing the hair cells to move, which informs us about the head's movement, its direction, and its speed.
The vestibular system is closely linked to eye movements, allowing the eyes to maintain a stable image even as the head moves.
When there is little to no movement, the fluid remains nearly stagnant and does not stimulate the system.
This system offers an opportunity for stimulation, which can enhance physical and mental abilities, as well as improve the capacity for sleep and wakefulness.
